Women Who Show Up... for Life

I was recently at a church ministry meeting and during the course of conversation I happened to use the phrase, "Women who show up..." I was using it in the context of women who are available for, and women who are available to, Jesus. This phrase has stayed with me over this past week and I am presently still in the 'musing' stage.

'Women Who Show Up... for Life', are women who show up for Jesus. What exactly does this mean and what are the implications and applications in our every day life? As I have been looking through God's Word, I realize that He has a lot to say to us regarding this subject and so, this morning, I wanted to ask you a question... as I continue to look further into what it means to be 'A Woman Who Shows up... for Life', would you be interested, over the course of the next few weeks, in me sharing with you what I have found?

Hoping to hear your thoughts on this...

with love,
Cathie

Cathie, I just LOVED your story about the apron!!
I have always worn an apron in the kitchen, must be my English roots as I see very few people wearing them, hymmm that's given me an idea for my little granddaughter, although I hav'nt sat at my machine for a long time.

Hi Girls,

Well...I haven't been here in a while and it is about time that "I showed up"...

In responding to this posting, I would like to honour a woman who showed up in our family's life about 3 years ago...her name is Takako and very early this morning, she met our Lord and Saviour face to face as she left this world and entered into His glorious presence. Takako was (is) a woman of great faith...her faith in Jesus was evident in everything, and I mean EVERYTHING that she did. Wherever she went, she "showed up" for Jesus. As she assisted my great aunt with the daily tasks my aunt found too difficult to do, Takako did this with the grace, patience and love the Lord blessed her with. When she went for each chemotherapy treatment, she did so with amazing strength, courage and dignity. Never once did she complain...and she had much she could have complained about! She accepted her situation with the absolute resolve that all was "well with her soul". Her joy in all that she experienced and endured radiated from every fibre of her being. Her faith and joy in the Lord was never, ever compromised during her long battle with cancer. When you were with Takako, you knew that you were in the presence of Jesus too. She knew without a doubt Whose hands she was in.

Takako left this world with all the same grace and dignity she lived it. This dear sister in the Lord is now waiting for all us sisters to join her one day. The Jesus she fell in love with many years ago...she now sees face to face. She is now personally acquainted with those she has studied from scripture. Her quiet and gentle ways maybe made her seem unassuming...yet just being with her for even a brief moment was all you needed to know that this woman was living for Someone real and alive...Takako "showed up for Jesus" every moment of her life. I will rise up and call her "blessed". I am richer for having known her and will forever consider her to be one of my most treasured mentors. Our Lord was too good to us in giving her to our family for this brief period of time. And I thank Him for every beautiful moment.

My love to you all...
Marnie

Hi Margaret, thank you! By the way, I've left a little invitation for you in The Little French Sewing Room in regards to the little apron... hoping you take me up on it!

Marnie, you began by saying that you wanted to honour 'a woman who showed up'... you did just that, you have honoured Takako beautifully, sweetheart.
