Summer in the Psalms - Week Eleven Reading

Good morning girls! I awoke this morning to the sound of raindrops... lovely - and as I had my quiet time (with the patter of raindrops as background music), how delighted I was at the Psalm the Lord has given to us for this week - Psalm 139.

This particular Psalm has ministered to me time and time again over the years and has become 'well-worn' in my Bible. I am looking forward to this week, knowing that each and every time I read it, it comes as a fresh Word right from the mouth of God.

I would continue to encourage you to READ ALOUD and to allow the Lord to guide you as to the verse or verses that you are to select as your memory verses for this week.

Also, you will remember from the Inductive Class that I taught last September, the following:

The Bible is God-Breathed
God's Word is Spiritually Discerned
When God Speaks, Talk Back
God's Word Brings Healing

Just remember that whenever you open your Bible, it is not just any book - these Words are God-breathed and they are spiritually discerned. So even before you begin, pray and ask God to "open your eyes that you may behold, wonderous things from His Word". Ask Him, by His Holy Spirit, to give you insight and understanding.

Remember too, that when God talks - talk back! Respond back to Him! The moment you open your Bible and begin to read, God is speaking to you, respond back to Him by talking with Him about what He is saying to you. Laugh, ask questions, come into agreement, cry, ponder, shake your head in wonder, clap your hands in joy - whatever, just remember to respond!

And always remember that God's Word brings healing sweetheart, "He sent forth His Word and healed them." Let the healing balm of His Word enter into the deepest place of your soul this week... and heal you.

I love you,

Dear Cathie
I just happened to click on to see where this weeks Psalms would lead us. Well, what can I say. Ps 139:16 has made such a difference in my life since you first directed me to the very verse a few months back when I was lost for words to help explain a suicide that had happened in a lonely place (ACCW).I can't explain the relief I experinced when understood it. He is and always will be, in control....for me it was exciting and still is. I want everybody to have that same experience. Since that time I have shared 139:16 with several people (non-bleievers & believers) I did that very thing yesterday when I visited a friend I hadn't seen in 2 years. We discussed this in detail and I know God sent me there as the visit was not planned and she lives a 1 1/2 hour drive from my daughters. A tragedy in their family had left them wondering about many things and she was relieved to discover 139:16and she intends to share it with her family(believers).I am so excited to "get into" Ps 139...thank you, thank you, thank you Cathie.
.... gone until the end of the month...........

Edna, you have blessed me tonight with your heartfelt words... the sharing of God's Word is powerful because it is LIVING and ACTIVE (Hebrews 4:12); as both you and I know. You giving out what you know to be True is exactly what 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 is all about... "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our affliction SO THAT we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."

God's Word does indeed bring healing (Psalm 107:20a); Edna, you brought to that friend not only friendship but truth. Truth that not only comforts in ANY affliction, but Truth that can heal - and she will now carry that Truth to her family... and on an on it goes... for God's Word will not return void unto Him but has been sent out expressly for the accomplishing of His purposes.

You inspire and sharpen me, and I am blessed to call you sister.

Hi Edna,
This is my first chance to respond to your comments and tell you how much they warmed my heart. I found myself humming a tune last night, and today again. It is an old song that {after a little research] comes from a bible verse and I would like to share it with you. Isaiah 52:7 says "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news". I have already told you that you and Pat are missionaries who use their hands and feet and now Psalm 139:6 is giving you reason to use your voice! I know that the next two weeks as you go "up, around and through the mountains" you will be doing all of the above. I am proud to be your friend as we grow together in our faith and love of our Precious Lord Jesus!

P.S. Don't forget to come Home.

Hi Girls,
Right away I knew that my verses would be Psalm 23-24 and for me the reason is that I found the first 4 verses rather sobering. I was caught up in the knowledge that MY FATHER knows my every thought. It is one thing to "appear good" but my heart's cry is to BE GOOD. My best chance to achieve that is to allow the Holy Spirit to teach me and in Faith, Believe and Accept these precious "God Breathed" words...then each day try to live them out. I also know that it will be a daily challenge.
Vs: 12 I love! It took me right to our study in John vs: 4-5 "In Him was life, and that life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." When I try to picture that, it takes my breath away and I don't think that I can totally comprehend it myself. The ONE who created ALL things and knows ALL about me...still loves me. How can I do less than say as in vs:23 SEARCH me, O God, and KNOW my heart!!!

Cathie, Thank you for "Summer in the Psalms". One day we will FULLY know All that GOD planned it to be!

Hi Girls,
Like many of you I LOVE this Psalm, it is so intimate. It shows us that God inhabits everywhere there is no Place that is hidden from Him.
Verse 12 proclaims He is the Light there is no darkness that He cannot dispel as we learned in John.
I love the verses 13-16 how precious that is, v16.Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance, this makes me weep when I think of all the babies that have been murdered in the womb.
To know too that all our days are numbered even before we were born,
that is so comforting when things happen that are hard to understand.
David talks about our enemies, and although there are many people that hate God and those who follow Him, I think our main enemies are not flesh and blood but spiritual forces in high places Ephesians 6:12
I think this Psalm says it all.

Hi everyone,

I must thank the Lord for giving me such a patient and loving husband who took two hours out of our time to find a place on Monday that I could find out what our psalm for the week was. Edna, I was so excited that we were going to study your special psalm. I think it is a favorite for me too, Like you said Angie we keep changing our minds because there are so many excellent pslams that touch our hearts. I especially love vs 16 too. Cathie this is something you taught me when I first started Daniel with you and I remeber coming home so excited to share it with Lorne. It is with great joy that I read the Lord hems me in and that His spirit will continue to guide me. I am no longer firghtened of God knowing my inner thoughts and actions as He is the one who will look after me and lead me in the right direction. In understanding this. I am able to have the peace that God has given to each of us.

PS We are having the most amazing trip with the Lord on our holiday and have been led to many Christians who have become friends and have had many discussions with them which have helped us in our journey with Christ. We truly have been blessed.
